    Urges Centre’s support for upgrading health infrastructure

    Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, J.P. Nadda in New Delhi today and sought central support for strengthening health infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh.

    The Chief Minister apprised the Union Minister about the state’s requirements in implementing schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission. He said that there was a need for strengthening health facilities across the state.

    He specifically requested the establishment of a dedicated cancer care centre in the state and introduction of advanced medical technologies and modern equipments in government hospitals to ensure better healthcare to the patients.

    Shri Sukhu also urged for relaxation in eligibility criteria for various central schemes and sought early release of pending funds.

    Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda assured the Chief Minister that the interests of Himachal Pradesh would be fully safeguarded and that all necessary cooperation would be extended by the Centre.

    Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty and Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar accompanied the Chief Minister during the meeting.

  • CM meets Union Ministers C.R. Patil

    Seeks support on Kishau, Renuka projects

    Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil in New Delhi today to discuss key water resource projects concerning Himachal Pradesh.

    The Chief Minister strongly advocated for the protection of rights of the state in the Kishau Hydro Electric Project and emphasized the need for a favourable funding pattern.

    He said that the financial burden of the Kishau project should be borne entirely either by the Government of India or by the major beneficiary states such as Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

    During the meeting, the Chief Minister also raised critical issues concerning the Renuka Dam project. He called for due consideration of the Local Area Development Fund and the free power component. He said that while hydro projects are essential for national development, the environmental and social impacts must also be addressed and the affected states should be fairly compensated.

    Apart from this the Chief Minister requested the early release of the pending amount under the Jal Jeevan Mission for the state.

    Union Minister CR Patil assured the Chief Minister of all possible assistance and cooperation from the central government.

    Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty and Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar were also present during the meeting.

    Pays tributes to former Prime Minister on his death anniversary

    Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary here today. He garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Sadbhawana Chowk Chhota Shimla.

    Interacting media, the Chief Minister said that the present state government was committed to realizing the vision of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi in the state to uplift the weaker and marginal sections of the society.  Recalling his immense contributions, he said that Rajiv Gandhi laid his life for the unity and integrity of the country and laid the groundwork for several transforming initiatives that propelled progress and prosperity of the Nation. He said that Rajiv Gandhi laid a strong foundation for the information technology revolution in the country which was yielding positive outcomes for the present generation and made a provision for 33 percent reservation for women in the Panchayati Raj Institutions by amending the Constitution.

    Sh. Sukhu said that the present state government has introduced Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School Yojna in the state to improve the standards of education. He said that in each assembly constituency these schools were being established with modern facilities and other infrastructure to benefit the students residing in the rural areas of the State. He said that the state government was also implementing Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna under which youths would be provided loans to start their avocations. Under the Scheme, unemployed youth were also being offered 50 percent subsidy for purchase of e-taxis.

    The Chief Minister also administered a pledge of national unity and integration of the country.

    Later, he also paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi at H.P. Secretariat and administered the oath of Anti-Terrorism day to the officers and officials on the occasion.

  • Delegation of Sanyukt Kisan Manch Calls on Chief Minister

    A delegation of the Sanyukt Kisan Manch, Himachal Pradesh called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today and submitted a memorandum regarding various demands of the farming community.

    The delegation also urged the Chief Minister to take up the issue of increasing import duty on apples with the Union Government to protect the interests of local apple growers.

    The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the State Government would consider their demands sympathetically.

  • CM to inaugurate border tourism activities from Shipki-La on 10th June

    Presides over a high level meeting with Army officers

    Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will inaugurate the border tourism activities from Shipki-La in Kinnaur district on 10th June, 2025 besides flagging off the Sadbhawana Cycle rally on the occasion. The State Government has asked the Ministry of Defence to allow tourism activities in the border areas of the State in Lepcha, Shipki-La, Giu and Rani Kanda and Ministry of Defence has given a go ahead in this regard. Now, the tourists visiting these border areas have to show Aadhar cards to the authorities and can explore the beauty of these areas.  These initiatives will go a long way in promoting tourism in the bordering areas thereby benefitting the local people and strengthening their economy. Earlier, a meeting in this regard was held with the senior officers of Army on 19th April this year.

    Chief Minister was presiding over a high level meeting with the Army Officers and BRO here today. He also reviewed various border development projects with the officers and directed them to expedite these projects to reap the maximum benefits to the people residing in bordering areas and military forces. He directed the PWD and BRO officers to coordinate for early execution of the ongoing projects.

    Sh. Sukhu said that he will raise the issue of establishing Himachal Scouts Battalion with the Union Government during his upcoming New Delhi visit. He said that the specialized force composed predominately of local youth well versed to the terrains and conditions, will significantly enhance the operational readiness along the border areas of the State. He said that he will also take up the matter of setting up airport at Rangreek in Spiti valley to promote tourism in the area.  He also discussed various ongoing road projects in the region and assured full support of the Government to BRO in executing them on ground. He also said that Nithalthach-Harshil road project shall be declared as strategically important project and execute this project on priority. This will ensure connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand leading to boost tourism and trade.

    The Chief Minister instructed the BRO to expedite Sansari-Killar-Thirot-Tandi road and provide better road connectivity to the people residing in these areas. He said that 35 percent work on this project has already been completed and BRO should speed up the project for making it early operational.

    The Chief Minister asked the army officers to purchase natural farming products such as barley, wheat and maize from the H.P. Marketing Board besides milk and said that the State Government is promoting natural farming in the State. He said that the State Government is offering MSP to naturally grown produces and this will bolster the local economy.

    General Officer Commanding Uttar Bharat Area, Lieutenant General G.D. Mishra  apprised the Chief Minister that Army will establish apple processing plant in this area and will also organize a medical camp for cataract surgery in the month of June this year to benefit the people of border areas.

    Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi, Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Pant, Chief Engineer Central Command Jayachandran, OSD to Chief Minister Gopal Sharma, Engineer in Chief PWD N.P. Singh and other senior officers of Army and BRO were also present in the meeting.

  • Kotkhai delegation demands complete ban on Turkish apple

    A delegation of Tharonk of Kotkhai area of Shimla district called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today and demanded to take up the matter of imposing complete ban on import of Turkish apple immediately with the Union Government.  They also thanked the Chief Minister for implementing various measures to benefit the apple growers such as adoption of Universal Cartons and purchasing of apple on weight basis

     The delegation also apprised him of their various demands and the Chief Minister assured to consider them sympathetically.

    They demanded construction of link road from Koku nallah to Gharok and drinking water supply scheme from Katch nallah to Gharok to benefit the people residing in these areas.  They also invited the Chief Minister to visit the area.

    The Chief Minister directed the officers to prepare DPRs for both the projects immediately.
