Polling gathered momentum across the Chopal subdivision till 3 PM with an overall turnout of 80.09 per cent recorded across 17 Panchayats.
According to the final 3 PM report, 14,192 voters had exercised their franchise out of the total 17,719 voters. Male turnout stood at 80.98 per cent while female turnout was slightly lower at 79.18 per cent.
Among the Panchayats, Dhawas emerged as one of the highest polling areas with a massive 85.97 per cent turnout by 3 PM. Gada also witnessed enthusiastic participation as polling touched 88.84 per cent, while Makrog recorded 87.37 per cent voting.
Jhiknipul Panchayat also registered brisk polling with 82.94 per cent turnout till 3 PM. Out of 879 voters, 729 had cast their votes. The Panchayat saw strong participation from booths like Chadoli which recorded over 90 per cent turnout, while Rawtan and Naar polling stations also crossed the 84 per cent mark.
Mashrain Panchayat too witnessed heavy voter participation with polling reaching 81.90 per cent. A total of 576 votes were polled out of 696 voters.
Mashrain in Tharoch booth itself recorded 83.04 per cent turnout, while Tharoch-2 touched nearly 88 per cent voting, reflecting high enthusiasm among rural voters.
Other Panchayats which recorded impressive turnout included Kiran with 79.94 per cent polling, Ruslah with 77.11 per cent, Thundal with 80.73 per cent and Thana with 79.70 per cent. Pandrada lagged behind many others with 67.79 per cent turnout till 3 PM.
Meanwhile, counting of votes for ward members has begun across the subdivision and will be followed by counting for Pradhan and Up-Pradhan posts, said BDO Chopal Vaneet Thakur.
Election officials said polling remained largely peaceful across the subdivision with voters, including women and elderly residents, turning up steadily at polling booths despite the hilly terrain and warm weather conditions.
