SHIMLA: Congress President and Mandi Lok Sabha MP Pratibha Singh today lambasted the central and state governments for an increase in GST rates in the country, saying it has already led to increase in prices of commodities including packaging material and cartons  putting an extra burden on all sections of people.

In a statement issued here Congress President said people are under huge burden of the rising inflation in the country.

By increasing the GST, the  central government has rubbed salt on their wounds by increasing the GST, she charged.

Pratibha Singh said the GST increase would make life of the common people miserable.

The dictatorial policies and decisions of the central government have also increased the difficulties of the common man, she charged.

Pratibha Singh said that the government should give relief to the people from the rising inflation.

The government should make essential food items free from GST so that people can live a comfortable life.

She said today the middle class and poor families are being greatly affected by the rising inflation.

Pratibha Singh has also demanded the government to exempt agriculture and horticulture from the purview of GST in the state.

She also demanded the government to roll back the hike in the rates of apple cartons and packaging materials.
