Himachal High Court has sought report of IIT study that has detected toxic pollution  in Groundwater Pol in Baddi-Barotiwala..

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has asked the Deputy Advocate General to get the joint study from IIT Mandi and IIT Jammu on the toxic pollution in the groundwater of the Baddi-Barotiwala industrial area.

This issue came to light thanks to a report by HimbuMail.

The court’s directive follows a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed on June 17.

According to the study, the groundwater in the Baddi-Barotiwala belt is contaminated with heavy metals at levels far beyond safe limits.

Adding to the concern, the Integrated Mountain Initiative, a group focused on Himalayan states, has sent a letter to the District Magistrate of Solan urging for action based on the IIT study's alarming findings.

Residents and local officials are now looking for swift measures to address the pollution and ensure safe drinking water for the community.
