Chetan Bragta Meets Shimla DC Over "Unjust" Delimitation of Zila Parishad Wards in Jubbal-Kotkhai
Shimla, May 27, 2025:
BJP state spokesperson Chetan Bragta met Shimla Deputy Commissioner today to lodge a strong objection on behalf of residents of the Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly segment over the recent delimitation of Zila Parishad wards, which has triggered widespread discontent in the area.
Bragta pointed out that the Jubbal-Kotkhai constituency has a voter base of around 66,000—34,000 in Kotkhai and 32,000 in Jubbal—yet, despite this sizable population, the number of wards in the region has been reduced. “This is unjustifiable,” he said.
He further argued that the revised delimitation has resulted in excessively large ward areas, making it difficult for elected representatives to effectively reach and serve the public.
“With fewer representatives, development funds and schemes will also be adversely impacted,” he added.
Bragta questioned the rationale behind such changes being imposed specifically on Jubbal-Kotkhai, while several other areas with far fewer voters have seen no changes. “Reducing three wards to two is a direct injustice to the people of Jubbal-Kotkhai,” he said.
He urged the Deputy Commissioner to conduct a fair and transparent review of the delimitation decision and ensure justice for the constituency.
