DHARAMSHALA- Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held a meeting in Dharamshala to review tourism and flagship projects in District Kangra. He emphasized developing Kangra as the Tourism Capital of the State and reviving traditional tourist destinations.

The state government plans to spend around Rs. 3000 crore to develop infrastructure for water tourism, adventure tourism, religious tourism, and health tourism in Kangra district.

Expansion of Kangra airport and construction of heliports in Rakkar and Palampur are underway to improve air connectivity.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of timely forest clearances for project implementation. The Matour-Shimla and Pathankot-Mandi routes will be expanded to four lanes with a medium width of 5 meters.

Several projects are proposed, including an International Convention Centre in Dharamshala, a Wellness Resort and artificial lake in Nagrota, a golf course in Garli, ice and roller-skating rinks in Sakoh, and a Tourist Village in Narghota.

Efforts are being made to set up a Destination Resort at Menjha, beautify Palampur town, and develop the Nagrota Bagwan area for day tourism.

Plans for a Zoological Park in Bankhandi and an Integrated Centre for institutional care under the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashrya Yojna were also discussed.

The Chief Minister reviewed the construction of Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools and received suggestions from MLAs to further enhance tourism in Kangra District.

Various ministers, MLAs, government officials, and dignitaries attended the meeting.
