Shimla- Himachal Pradesh plans to develop artificial lakes as vibrant tourist destinations, offering water sports, angling, bird watching, and more for unforgettable experience for tourists.

According to the state government spokesperson, the Lake tourism would boost Tourism and Employment in the state.

The goal is to attract millions of tourists, boost tourism, and create employment opportunities by opening these artificial lakes to adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Thrilling Water Sports and Nature Retreats

Experience heart-pounding water sports like kayaking, jet skiing, and canoeing, along with serene angling and mesmerizing bird watching amidst Himachal's pristine lakes.

Empowering the Local Community

The initiative aims to create sustainable growth and empower the local community by promoting home stays, street food corners, restaurants, resorts, and hotels near the artificial lakes.

Key Locations and Attractions

Strategic locations such as Pong Dam, Kol Dam, Bhakra Reservoir, Larji Reservoir, Tattapaani, and Chamera Dam will offer water-based attractions, adventure activities, art and craft centers, shopping arcades, and food streets.

Unveiling New Sites

The district administration of Kangra will identify suitable sites along rivers to create picturesque artificial lakes, while Nagrota will feature a world-class Wellness Centre and an artificial lake with captivating fountains.

Commitment and Vision

The government has allocated a dedicated budget of Rs. 70 crore for adventure tourism activities in Pong Dam, Kangra district, aiming to attract five crore tourists in the next four to five years.
