COAS Reviews Operational Readiness in North-East, Directs Full Support for Assam Flood Relief

New Delhi/Imphal, July 30: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), reviewed the operational readiness of Indian Army formations in the North-East during a two-day visit on July 28-29, assessing the prevailing security situation and the preparedness of formations deployed in the Eastern Theatre.

 

During the visit, General Seth was briefed by senior commanders on the security environment and ongoing operational deployments. He also reviewed the Army's adoption of cutting-edge technologies and indigenous innovations aimed at enhancing operational capabilities in the strategically important region.

 

Interacting with officers and troops, the Army Chief commended them for their professionalism, operational commitment and unwavering dedication while serving in challenging terrain and complex security conditions. He lauded their high state of preparedness and stressed the need to remain vigilant in safeguarding the nation's interests.

 

As part of his engagements in Manipur, the COAS called on the Governor, , at Lok Bhavan and later met Chief Minister . The discussions focused on the prevailing security situation and developmental issues in the state, underscoring the close coordination between the civil administration and the armed forces.

 

General Seth also attended the opening ceremony of the Imphal leg of the 135th , where he highlighted the tournament's significance in nurturing sporting talent, engaging youth and strengthening unity across the North-East.

 

During the visit, the Army Chief also reviewed the Indian Army's ongoing flood relief operations in Assam. He directed formation commanders to extend all possible assistance to flood-affected communities and ensure sustained support for rescue, relief and humanitarian efforts in coordination with civil authorities.

 

The visit reaffirmed the Indian Army's focus on maintaining a high level of operational preparedness while continuing its commitment to humanitarian assistance and nation-building initiatives across the North-East.
