SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh pollution control board and Education Department is conduction quiz contests on the theme of “Invest in Our Planet”  for junior and senior school students from class 6th to Class 12th on  World Earth Day on April 22 in the state.     

Member secretary Pollution control board Apporv Devgan said theme of Earth Day 2022 is “Invest In Our Planet”. It aims at highlighting environmental issues like loss of biodiversity, increasing pollution among others and encourage governments and citizens to take concrete steps to restore and replenish the planet.

The Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board seeks to promote “caring attitude” for our planet amongst the students of the state. Quizzes will be conducted in about 7000 government and private schools wherein students from Class VI to Class XII will participate.

He said endeavour is to help in knowledge building amongst the school children and preparing them to address the complex environmental issues. They will know the ways to keep our environment clean and preserved it for future.

The Quiz is scheduled to be organised in two groups- Junior (Class- VI-VIII) and Senior (Class- IX-XII).

Subsequently, a State-Level Himachal Enviro-quiz- 2022 is also going to be organised in Shimla, with attractive prizes for winners.

After holding elimination rounds, three teams selected at each district level shall be eligible to compete in the State level Quiz on the occasion of World Environment Day 2022.

Events commencing on 22nd April 2022 shall conclude on 5th June, 2022 on the occasion of World Environment Day 2022, Devgan said.

“We expect all schools in Himachal Pradesh encourage their students and prepare their teams for the upcoming state-Level Himachal Enviro Quiz- 2022”.
