Prof MamtaMoktaHPU Shimla

Shimla: Prof. Mamta Mokta, Dean of Students’ Welfare and Chairperson of the Department of Public Administration at Himachal Pradesh University, has been conferred with the V. Bhaskar Rao Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 by the New Public Administration Society of India (NEPASI).

The award, recognizing her exemplary contributions to Public Administration, was presented during a national seminar at Kurukshetra University on February 20, 2025.

A gold medalist in Public Administration, Prof. Mokta began her career at just 22 after topping the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission examination in 1992.

After 13 years in college education, she joined HPU as an Associate Professor and became a Professor in 2009.

With 33 years of teaching experience, she has authored and edited seven books, published over 83 research articles, and supervised 12 PhD scholars.

Her contributions include five research projects funded by UGC and the State Government, along with keynote addresses at over 100 national and international seminars.

Beyond academia, Prof. Mokta actively engages in grassroots development as President of the Resident Welfare Association, Phase-3, New Shimla, and as an advisor to Himachal Upbhokta Sarakshan Parishad.

Her insights have been featured in more than 50 panel discussions and budget debates on Doordarshan and All India Radio, and she has anchored over 150 programs at HPU.

A poet at heart, her collection "Mamta Ki Chhanv Mein" has also been published.

Prof. Mokta dedicated her award to her family, acknowledging the blessings of her parents and in-laws, the encouragement of her husband, Dr. Ravinder Mokta, and the unwavering support of her daughters, Dr. Shriya and Anushka.
