SHIMLA: You might have heard of cricket all-rounders who excel with both bat and ball. Here is a different kind of all-rounder—a young academic all-rounder, a polymath in the making.
Meet Shaurya Singh Bhawani, who has cleared four prestigious national entrance examinations—JEE Advanced, NEET-UG, IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) and CUET-UG—without joining any regular coaching institute.
His reward? A seat in the B.Tech. Bioengineering programme at IIT Mandi, where he is now set to chase a future at the exciting intersection of biology, technology and engineering.
Shaurya cleared JEE Advanced in his very first attempt, turning years of disciplined self-study, conceptual learning and consistency into an outstanding result.
He could have chosen from multiple academic pathways after clearing four national-level examinations, but Bioengineering at IIT Mandi best matched his curiosity and future ambitions.
A resident of Nabha Estate, Shimla, and originally from Theog, Shaurya is an alumnus of DAV Public School, Lakkar Bazar, Shimla, where he consistently excelled academically.
Four Exams. One Mindset. No Coaching.
Shaurya says he never treated success as a shortcut or obsessed over the final result.

His advice to fellow aspirants is equally simple: stay focused, build conceptual clarity, work consistently and don't let the pressure of results distract you.
His father, Dr. Mohinder Singh Bhawani, Deputy Director of Agriculture, described Shaurya’s achievement as a proud moment for the family, saying his dedication and academic discipline had been evident throughout his school years.
His mother, Dr. Vibhati Arya, said studying both Medical and Non-Medical subjects at the senior secondary level helped Shaurya explore different areas of science and make an informed career choice.
From Academic All-Rounder to Bioengineer
Shaurya’s achievement carries a message far beyond an IIT admission. It challenges the belief that expensive coaching is the only route to cracking elite entrance examinations.
