Shimla’s Vipasha Srivastava Tops NIMHANS PhD Entrance, Secures Institute Fellowship

Shimla: Bringing laurels to Himachal Pradesh, Shimla-based Vipasha Srivastava has secured the first rank in the highly competitive All India entrance examination for admission to the PhD programme in Mental Health and Rehabilitation at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru.

Along with securing the top position, Vipasha has also been awarded an institute fellowship to pursue her doctoral research at the country's premier mental health institution.

Recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India, NIMHANS is widely regarded as India's leading centre for education, research and treatment in the fields of mental health and neurosciences.

Vipasha recently completed her M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology with distinction from the Department of Psychiatry at Government Medical College and Hospital Chandigarh. Significantly, she had also topped the national-level entrance examination for admission to the M.Phil. programme.

Her academic journey reflects a consistent record of excellence. She earned a Bachelor's degree with Honours in Psychology from Panjab University and later completed her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Delhi. She received her school education at Dayanand Public School and Loreto Convent School.

Currently working as a Clinical Psychologist in the Delhi-NCR region, Vipasha is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India.

According to her family, she nurtured the dream of becoming a clinical psychologist from an early age and remains committed to serving underprivileged and marginalized sections of society through her work in mental health.

Vipasha is the daughter of retired Himachal Pradesh University professor Prof. Ajai Srivastava and former Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd Deputy General Manager Mridula Srivastava. Her remarkable achievement has been widely appreciated by the academic community and residents of Shimla, who see her success as an inspiration for aspiring students across the state.
