Indian ultra runner Tenzin Dolma has scripted history for India and Himachal Pradesh by setting new national records at the prestigious IAU Asian & Oceania 24 Hours Championship held in Hirosaki, Japan on May 23.
Competing against some of Asia and Oceania’s finest endurance athletes, Tenzin covered a staggering 228.93 km in the grueling 24-hour race, creating a new Indian national record. She also established fresh national records in both the 12-hour and 24-hour categories, underlining her dominance in ultra-endurance running.
The achievement became even more remarkable as Tenzin secured the Overall 4th position in the championship, while the Indian women’s team clinched the Bronze Medal, bringing laurels to the country on the international stage.
A renowned ultra trail mountain and international ultra ski mountaineering athlete, Tenzin has now represented India and Himachal Pradesh four times in global competitions, consistently making the nation proud with her performances.
Earlier, on November 24, 2025, she had won a Silver Medal for India at the Asian Oceania 100km Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.
Calling it the “greatest honour” of her life to represent India, Tenzin said the journey to international success was far from easy. She revealed that financial hardships remained her biggest challenge as she had neither brand sponsorship nor government support during her preparation for global events.
Despite the odds, the athlete continued her relentless pursuit of excellence through sheer determination and hard work.
