New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Vigilance Officer of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) along with a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employee in a bribery case.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on May 18 following a complaint filed by a former Deputy Director of the DDA.
The complainant alleged that the vigilance officer had demanded a bribe of ₹5 lakh to send a favourable reply to the parent department in connection with a vigilance matter pending against him.
After negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept ₹3 lakh as the bribe amount.
The CBI laid a trap on May 18 and caught the Assistant Vigilance Officer red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting ₹50,000 through the MTS employee as part payment of the total bribe amount.
Both accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
The CBI said its action reflects the agency’s continued crackdown on corruption and urged citizens to report cases involving bribery or corrupt public officials.
