Lions Club Shimla tree plantation drive

Shimla, July 15, 2024: At Lions Club Shimla, "We Serve" isn't just a motto—it's a mission.

The club, deeply involved in the civic, cultural, and social upliftment of society, is also keenly aware of the reckless exploitation of natural resources.

Recognizing the critical role trees play in maintaining ecological balance and conserving soil, the club's president, Man Mohan Verma, highlighted the importance of tree planting.

Trees, through a process called transpiration, release water vapor into the air, which eventually returns to the earth as rain.

In line with this understanding, the Lions Club organizes an annual tree plantation drive in and around Shimla to raise environmental awareness.

This year, the club members, in collaboration with the H.P. Forest Department, conducted the drive in the village of Dhanain, Mashobra Block.

More than 120 saplings, including Deodar, Khanoor, and Walnut trees, were planted by the members and their families.

The initiative aims not only to plant trees but also to ensure their growth over time.

Sufal Sood chaired the project, while Man Mohan Verma reported active participation from President M.K. Sharma, Secretary C.L. Sankhyan, Treasurer D.K. Chauhan, and other members like P.S. Panwar, K.D. Chandel, Gopal Vaid, Vimal Sood, J.P. Sharma, K.R. Sharma, Umesh Sood, Dr. Rajesh Chanana, and their families.

The president also expressed gratitude to Mr. Anish, DFO, Mr. Azit Kumar, Range Officer, and the staff of the H.P. Forest Department for their cooperation.
