DHARAMSHALA: India’s Chief Election Commissioner,  Gyanandra Kumar visited the world-renowned on Saturday and was left impressed by its breathtaking setting and world-class infrastructure.

Nestled in the lap of the majestic Dhauladhar range, the stadium was described by him as one of India's most unique sporting treasures.

Interacting with the media, Kumar said the view from the stadium was truly unbelievable.

The snow-clad Dhauladhar peaks, pristine surroundings, and state-of-the-art facilities make it one of the most picturesque cricket venues in the country.

He remarked that the stadium reflects remarkable vision, planning, and years of dedicated effort.

Today, the HPCA Stadium stands among the most iconic cricket venues in the world, but its journey began with the vision of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister  Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal and his son, Member of Parliament  Anurag Singh Thakur.

Their efforts transformed a dream into a reality, bringing the small Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh onto the global cricket map.

As President of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, Anurag Thakur played a pivotal role in developing the stadium and upgrading its facilities to international standards.

His contribution to Himachal cricket and sports infrastructure is widely acknowledged and remains a matter of pride for the state.

The stadium has since become a regular venue for Indian Premier League matches and international fixtures, attracting some of the biggest stars in world cricket to Dharamshala.

Every major match not only showcases Himachal Pradesh to a global audience but also generates significant economic activity through tourism and hospitality.

The rise of the HPCA Stadium has also boosted high-end tourism in the Kangra Valley.

Dharamshala is already internationally known as the home of His Holiness the Dali Lama  and the seat of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile at Macleod Ganj .

The combination of spirituality, natural beauty, and international cricket has given the region a unique global identity.

Against the stunning backdrop of the Dhauladhar mountains, the HPCA Stadium is more than just a cricket ground.

It is a symbol of vision, determination, and Himachal Pradesh’s emergence on the world stage.

The appreciation expressed by the Chief Election Commissioner has once again highlighted the stadium’s status as one of India’s most spectacular sporting landmarks.
