New Delhi: United Doctors Front (UDF) has announced its new national team for the 2026–27 tenure, with Dr. Babita Sikriwal of AIIMS CAPFIMS Delhi taking over as National President — becoming the first woman to head a national-level doctors’ organisation in India.
The announcement was made by UDF Chairperson Dr. Lakshya Mittal on Wednesday.
The new leadership team includes Dr. Ankit Sharma, Dr. Mir Waseem and Dr. Onkar Singh as National Vice-Presidents. Dr. Prashant Sharma has been appointed National General Secretary, Dr. Rakesh Beniwal as National Joint Secretary and Dr. Bharat Rathore as National Finance Secretary.
UDF said the new body includes doctors from premier institutions such as AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, PGIMER Chandigarh, SMS Jaipur and several government medical colleges. The organisation has also expanded its legal, advisory and zonal structure besides creating dedicated cells for mental health, anti-ragging, FMG, RTI, research and student affairs.
The new team takes charge after UDF’s campaigns on resident doctors’ duty hours, the NEET-PG 2025 single-shift issue and the successful organisation of UDFCON 2025.
Calling it a historic moment, Dr. Lakshya Mittal said, “Dr. Babita Sikriwal’s appointment is a proud milestone for UDF and for women leadership in the medical fraternity. We will continue working for doctors, medical students and healthcare reforms across India.”
The appointments have come into effect immediately and will remain valid till March 31, 2027.
