BJP MLA Slams Govt for ‘Failing Future of Himachal’
Himbumail.com | Bharmour, July 22
In a powerful display of frustration and helplessness, schoolchildren in Bharmour, a remote tribal region of Himachal Pradesh, took to the streets holding placards that read: “We want teachers!”
The images spoke louder than words—young girls in school uniforms, protesting for something as basic as their right to education.
This rare protest by students has now sparked a political storm, with local BJP MLA Dr. Janak Raj launching a scathing attack on the ruling Congress government.
“These children are the future of India, but the Congress government’s indifference has forced them to protest instead of study,” said Dr. Janak Raj, calling it a "shameful reflection of the government’s failed education policy."
He accused the government of being intoxicated by power and completely unconcerned about the state’s present or future.
“Never in Himachal’s history have we seen such an irresponsible government,” he said.
The BJP leader claimed he has repeatedly raised the issue of teacher shortages in the Vidhan Sabha, spoken to the media, and even written to the administration—but all in vain.
“Bharmour is already geographically backward. The Congress government is destroying the future of poor tribal children by ignoring schools here,” he said.
Photos from the protest show schoolgirls holding handmade signs demanding teacher appointments.
The visuals have gone viral, fueling public outrage over the state of education in rural Himachal.
Dr. Janak Raj didn’t hold back:
“This protest is a warning. If the government fails to act now—by appointing teachers, filling vacant posts, and using education budgets properly—this movement will only grow stronger.”
He urged the Chief Minister to step in immediately and fix the crisis—not just in Bharmour but across the state.
“I stand with these children. Their struggle is just, and I will support them every step of the way,” he declared.
In a parting shot, he reminded the government:
“Nation-building and true development begin with education. Ignore it, and you fail the country.”
