Probo Betting Racket Busted: ₹284.5 Cr Frozen, ED Crackdown Demands Probe into Political & Cricket Nexus

Chandigarh/Gurugram July 10, 2025

In a major crackdown that has once again exposed the ugly underbelly of online betting networks, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided four premises linked to Probo Media Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Gurugram and Jind, Haryana.

The operation was carried out on July 8 and 9 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

Probo, the company behind the flashy online gaming app and website by the same name, is now in the eye of a storm for allegedly running a nationwide illegal gambling and betting racket under the garb of “prediction-based gaming.”

The promoters of the company — Sachin Subhaschandra Gupta and Ashish Garg — are under the ED scanner, and the financial trail leads to a staggering ₹284.5 crore parked in fixed deposits and shares, all of which have now been frozen.

The sleuths have also locked three bank lockers suspected to contain more illicit assets.

But the story doesn’t end at money laundering and gambling.

This is bigger than just a tech company making quick bucks on fantasy bets.

Sources in the enforcement circles believe that the betting ecosystem Probo allegedly operated could have deep political protection and potential backdoor links to the murky corridors of high-stake sports — including Indian cricket and international circuits like BCCI and ICC.

Whispers of insider tip-offs, suspicious betting patterns during matches, and tech-savvy apps like Probo being used to funnel black money into legal investments have grown louder over the years.

And with ₹284 crore unearthed from a single operation, the question is no longer "if" but "who else is involved?"

This is not the first time betting apps have come under fire.

But unless the political hand behind such digital betting mafias is chopped off, such companies will keep mushrooming with impunity.

With Probo's case now out in the open, it's high time the central government and investigative agencies also probe potential links with cricketing events, player performance bets, and election predictions that these apps aggressively push.

The BCCI, ICC, and other sports authorities must also come clean — was Probo just another betting app, or a front for bigger manipulations? And who allowed it to flourish across India under the radar?

As the nation watches, the onus is now on the ED and allied agencies to not just scratch the surface

But dig deep and bring every player — digital, political, or cricketing — to justice.

Because behind every click-bait prediction lies a silent loot of public trust.
