Heavy Rain Alert in Himachal: IMD Warns of Disruptions in Several Districts Till August 5

Shimla, August 1: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla has sounded a fresh heavy to very heavy rainfall alert for several districts in Himachal Pradesh, warning of possible landslides, flash floods, and disruptions in daily life over the next four to five days. The monsoon has once again turned active over the state.

When and where will it rain?

According to the 7-day forecast issued at 1 PM today:

 August 1: Heavy to very heavy rain likely at isolated places in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Hamirpur. Other districts like Una, Bilaspur, Kullu, and Sirmaur may also receive heavy spells.

#⃣ August 2 & 3: Light to moderate rain at many places, but heavy rain spells still likely in parts of Bilaspur, Sirmaur, Solan, and Shimla.

#⃣ August 4 & 5: Rain to intensify again with chances of heavy rainfall in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Kullu.

#⃣ August 6 & 7: Rainfall expected to reduce slightly but scattered light to moderate showers to continue.

📍 High-Risk Zones

#⃣ Low Hills/Plains: Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, lower Kangra, Nalagarh-Baddi belt in Solan, Paonta Sahib & Nahan (Sirmaur)

#⃣ Mid Hills: Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kullu

#⃣ High Hills: Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, upper Mandi, and upper Kullu areas

 Rainfall Highlights (last 24 hrs):

Chuari (Chamba) received the highest rainfall at 12 cm

Manali (Kullu) recorded 6 cm

Banjar (Kullu), Bharari (Hamirpur) and Kothi (Chamba) received around 4–5 cm

 IMD Weather Warning:

#⃣ Landslides/mudslides likely in vulnerable areas

#⃣ Waterlogging in low-lying zones

#⃣ Traffic disruptions due to slippery roads and poor visibility

#⃣ Risk of flash floods and rising water levels in local rivers and nullahs

#⃣ Horticulture & standing crops may suffer damage

Advisory for Public:

Avoid going near water bodies, landslide-prone zones and flooded streets

Postpone trekking or outdoor travel plans

Stay updated with official weather alerts

Follow local traffic and disaster management guidelines

📉 Temperature Trend:

Maximum temperatures may rise by 2–4°C over the next two days but are expected to dip again by 2–5°C later.

Minimum temperatures will remain stable, ranging between 13°C to 26°C.

With the monsoon trough active and a cyclonic circulation over Haryana, Himachal Pradesh must brace for another spell of intense monsoon activity.
