KARGIL:  After touring the Ladakh region Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed  a rally in Kargil today charging that the China has occupied Indian territory along the border even as the Modi government has denied it.

Addressing a  rally in Kargil  Gandhi raised the recent geopolitical concerns,  saying that  Prime Minister has denied  this.

"But I have toured Ladakh and have gathered from locals that China allegedly has occupied Indian territory in the border areas", he claimed.

Gandhi emphasized the deep connection between Ladakh and its migrants, highlighting their sentiment that the region is their second home.

Gandhi urged the crowd to recognize the importance of political representation in their pursuit of rights and development. He underlined the need for a strong local government and leader to amplify their voices and address their concerns effectively.

He stated, "Your representation should be your political voice, which should be your local government or leader."

Gandhi emphasized the need for Ladakh to have a greater say in its affairs, hinting at the demand for Union Territory rights.

Gandhi acknowledged the concerns raised by youth in the area, notably the challenges of unemployment and inadequate communication infrastructure.

"Ladakh's unemployment crisis is a significant issue," he noted, pledging support to tackle this challenge.

He pointed out the importance of modern communication systems and reliable air connectivity. He reassured the crowd that the Congress party stands in solidarity with them on matters of land, employment, culture, and language.

Gandhi also highlighted Ladakh's immense potential in terms of natural resources, particularly solar energy.

He expressed his belief that empowering Ladakh through representation would safeguard its resources and ensure equitable benefits from developmental projects.

But Rahul Gandhi did not clarify whether Ladakh should continued to be UT or state

Taking a direct swipe at the ruling BJP, Gandhi charged, "BJP people know that if you are given representation, they will not be able to take away your land from you." He vowed to protect the interests of Ladakh and its people.

He praised the beauty of Ladakh and the warmth of its people, labeling it "perhaps the most beautiful place in India." He extended his gratitude to the audience for their time and support, assuring them of Congress' commitment to champion their cause.
