Dharamshala:

Countering the Opposition’s claim that the Centre released over ₹5,000 crore to Himachal Pradesh in the last three years, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday challenged the BJP to show proof of the alleged funds.

“If ₹5,000 crore had actually come, there would be some record of it. The BJP should tell us where this money came from.

They keep repeating this false figure—if it exists, bring the documents,” Sukhu said on the floor of the House.

He accused the BJP of spreading “lies and confusion,” reminding the Opposition that during its own tenure, the state received ₹50,000 crore more from the Centre but “still pushed Himachal into a financial crisis, hiting out at the previous Jai Ram Thakur government.

The Chief Minister said his government is working to stabilise the state’s economy and also addressed concerns raised by Opposition members on administrative lapses.

He said the irony is that BJP members themselves have admitted and have raised some issues on delimitation and errors in panchayats, still they are shouting the elections were delayed or or were postponed.

“You said a Panchayat has existed for 35 years but was never opened. These are the errors we are trying to fix. Elections should be held only after such issues are corrected,” he said.

Sukhu added that the Opposition itself has demanded fair and proper elections. “We also want maximum participation in democracy. For that, every discrepancy must be resolved as per rules,” he said.
