Shimla: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla met with 64 Indian Forest Service (IFS) probationers at Raj Bhavan today. These probationers, part of the first batch, were in Shimla as part of their thematic tour. The session included an interactive discussion with the Governor.

During the interaction, Governor Shukla highlighted the natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh, noting the dense forests in Shimla. He emphasized the importance of forest conservation, saying, "Our ancestors taught us that planting one tree is as valuable as having ten children.

Now, it's your responsibility to conserve and develop these forests." He expressed confidence in the young, energetic trainees, expecting them to perform their duties with dedication.

The Governor addressed environmental challenges, mentioning the increasing incidents of extreme weather and forest fires in hill states.

He stressed the need for using modern technology to tackle these issues and conserve natural beauty, forests, and wildlife.

Shukla also talked about the importance of developmental work based on the needs of the people, especially in hilly areas. He urged a cooperative approach to issues like Nautod and pasture land.

During the event, IFS probationer Anuradha Mishra provided details about the batch profile and syllabus, while Anushka Lohia discussed thematic tourism, focusing on mountain tourism. Trainee officers also shared their experiences.

Secretary to the Governor Rajesh Sharma, senior officers of the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department, and faculty members accompanying the probationers were present at the event.
