Shimla/Dharamshala: With saffron flags fluttering high and temples across Himachal Pradesh decked up for Navratras, the state is gearing up for a heavy rush of devotees this season.
From Kangra’s revered Shaktipeeths to temples in Chamba, Mandi, and Una, crowds are expected to swell—many seeking divine solace amid the shadow of recent natural disasters.
Sensing the surge, Himachal Pradesh Police has gone into festival mode.
DGP Ashok Tewari, IPS has directed all SPs and Range IGPs/DIGs to stay on their toes, ensuring crowd control, traffic regulation, and round-the-clock safety measures.
“A proactive approach, effective planning and teamwork will be the key to ensure safety and order during Navratras,” the DGP asserted.
The blueprint includes daily briefings, robust emergency response, and even a sharp eye on social media to counter rumours.
Special focus will be on crowd and traffic management in temple towns where the rush is expected to peak.
At the same time, the police have appealed to devotees to keep discipline, follow advisories, and celebrate with devotion and harmony.
“Together, let’s make Navratras safe and joyous,” the advisory reads.
As the divine chants of ‘Jai Mata Di’ rise from the valleys to the hilltops, the state machinery is banking on teamwork between devotees and police for a smooth, festive Navratri 2025.
