SHIMLA: In a major infrastructure push, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has cleared the construction of a modern commercial complex at Mohal Chotta Shimla in Dehat area. Featuring two high-rise towers of 14 and 17 storeys, the project aims to ease the city’s growing administrative and commercial pressures. It will offer state-of-the-art facilities, ample parking, and a smart design layout, positioning Shimla as a hub of modern governance and business.
Major Cabinet Decisions at a Glance:
Daily Wage Relief: Part-time Class-IV workers in various departments who have served continuously for 7 years as of 31st March 2025 will be made daily wagers.
Wildlife Wing Relocation: The Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department will be shifted from Shimla to the CPD KFW Project Office building in Dharamshala. The KFW office will move to the Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) premises.
Jail Restructure in Mandi: The District Jail in Mandi will shift to Nerchowk, and the old premises will be repurposed as an Open Jail for women. Posts will be created to ensure smooth functioning.
Online Courts: The Cabinet approved the Himachal Pradesh Online Filing and Processing of Court Cases Rules, 2025, making revenue court processes digital.
Recruitment Reforms: The Rajya Chayan Aayog has been authorized to set exam fees. A Cabinet Sub-Committee will oversee new guidelines for recruitment across departments.
Rural Planning: Development plans cleared for Shri Chintpurni (Una), Sarahan (Shimla), and Bhota (Hamirpur) to manage unregulated growth and protect highways from unchecked development.
Public Transport Boost: 350 new stage carriage routes and additional routes for 18-seater tempo travellers by private operators were approved.
Healthcare Strengthened: Approval to fill 81 Medical Officer posts—68 for casualty services and 13 in other categories—to enhance trauma care, blood banks, and tertiary cancer units.
Forensic and Agriculture Support: 18 FACT/FACT Plus professionals will be recruited for forensic services, and 11 Subject Matter Specialists will strengthen Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
Water Supply Implementation: Jal Shakti Vibhag designated as the nodal agency to execute and maintain rural drinking water schemes under the 15th Finance Commission.
Land Transfers:
21-09 bighas allotted free for AIIMS Bilaspur expansion.
52-17-00 bighas sanctioned for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Chamba.
Sunni Status Rollback: The earlier decision to upgrade Sunni Nagar Panchayat to a Municipal Council has been withdrawn.
These decisions collectively target improved infrastructure, job security, healthcare, planning, and rural upliftment across Himachal Pradesh.
