Shimla, July 22: The Himachal Pradesh High Court has registered a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over the prolonged delay in the construction of a bridge over the River Pabber on the RCD Road under HPPWD Sub-Division Chirgaon and Division Rohru at Seema, as well as delays in other bridge projects in the surrounding region.

The PIL was initiated on the basis of a representation received by the High Court on its administrative side, highlighting the hardships faced by residents due to the non-construction of the bridge and seeking urgent intervention.

Taking cognisance of the matter, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Bipin C. Negi directed the State Government to file a detailed status report on the progress of the bridge project and related works.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on August 31, 2026.

The representation was filed by Ajay Dhawan, who urged the High Court to ensure the immediate commencement of construction work on the long-pending bridge at Seema, citing the inconvenience and safety concerns faced by the local population.

The High Court's intervention is expected to bring renewed focus on the delayed infrastructure projects in the Pabber valley, where residents have long demanded improved connectivity through the construction of essential bridges.
