Facing High Court Rebuke, HPTDC Starts Outdoor Services Across All Units to Boost Revenue, Recover Dues...HP High Court Acts Tough.
Shimla, July 4: Under fire from the Hon’ble High Court, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has ordered all its units to immediately start outdoor services in a bid to ramp up revenue and crack down on pending dues.
The directive came after the Court questioned why such services — already initiated by the Bilaspur DDO — had not been implemented uniformly across the state.
Following the court’s nudge, a meeting of all DDOs was convened, and orders were issued to start outdoor services without delay.
More importantly, the High Court has taken serious note of the large number of dues pending with HPTDC, including from individuals, government departments, and politicians.
The Court has now set August 12 as the deadline for HPTDC to submit a complete list of defaulters along with the status of recovery and asking the MD to name them.
Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Managing Director of HPTDC, confirmed the development:
“We’ve been directed by the Hon’ble High Court to supply a detailed list of all defaulters — individuals, political entities, and departments — who haven’t cleared their dues.
The process of compiling and verifying data is underway, and we’ll be submitting it by 12.08.2025 as instructed.”
The High Court’s stern observations have sparked a flurry of activity within HPTDC, with top officials now racing against time to clean up the books and streamline public-facing services to improve efficiency and accountability.
Senior officials said the outdoor services initiative will now be a mandatory practice in all HPTDC units and will be closely monitored for both compliance and performance.
