New Delhi/Shimla/Srinagar, May 10:
In a significant development, India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete ceasefire across land, air, and sea from 5 PM IST today, following a direct conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations at 3:35 PM.
However, the Indian Armed Forces have made it clear they remain fully prepared and operationally ready to respond to any further provocations.
At a detailed press briefing held at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, senior military officials—Commodore Ravin Iyer, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi—addressed the media to share updates on operations and bust misinformation being spread by Pakistan.
“Following Pakistan’s unprovoked attack on our military installations, we have dealt them significant and precise damage both on land and in the air,” said Commodore Iyer.
“Major Pakistani air bases such as Skardu, Sargodha, Jacobabad, and Bholari have been extensively hit.
Their air defence systems and radar installations have been severely degraded, rendering their airspace vulnerable.”
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi added that across the Line of Control (LoC), India carried out precision strikes on Pakistan’s military infrastructure, including logistics hubs, command and control centres, and ammunition depots.
“This has led to a total breakdown of their offensive and defensive military capability and a steep decline in morale,” she stated.
The Defence Ministry also addressed a series of false claims made by Pakistan. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh clarified: “Allegations about the destruction of India’s S-400 systems, BrahMos bases, and airfields in Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Bhuj, Naliya, and ammunition dumps in Chandigarh and Beas are entirely fabricated. We presented verifiable evidence this morning disproving these lies.”
Rejecting accusations that Indian forces targeted religious places, officials reiterated that the Indian military adheres to the highest constitutional and ethical standards.
“India is a secular nation, and our armed forces respect all places of worship. No religious structure has been targeted.
Our operations have been directed solely at terrorist camps and hostile military infrastructure,” the officials emphasized.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, the Indian Armed Forces remain on alert.
“Let me reiterate,” said Commodore Iyer, “while the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will adhere to the ceasefire understanding, we remain fully vigilant and prepared to respond decisively to any future misadventure.”
The DGMOs of both countries are scheduled to hold further talks on May 12 at 12:00 noon to assess the situation and ensure compliance.
“Every act of aggression by Pakistan has been met with strength,” the Defence Ministry concluded. “India will continue to defend its sovereignty with full resolve.”
