Govt Apathy or Admin Drama? Villagers Call Out Jogindernagar Officials Over Road Demarcation Mess

Jogindernagar, June 24:

A day ahead of the June 25 mass protest, Himachal Kisan Sabha’s state vice president and Zila Parishad member Kushal Bhardwaj has come out all guns blazing, accusing the Jogindernagar administration of staging a “road demarcation drama” to mislead the public.

Crores Spent, Still No Road

Bhardwaj said the Gaduhi–Bhaura–Kas road — built under PMGSY and SC Sub-Plan — remains blocked despite crores spent.

Forest clearance is already in place, and even a Dalit family has offered land willingly for further expansion. “Still, the administration is listening to those whose land isn’t even involved,” he lashed out.

Admin Missing in Action

On June 24, the revenue department had called all parties for demarcation.

But shockingly, no senior officer showed up. Only a Kanoongo was sent — a clear downgrade from the previous Naib Tehsildar-led exercise.

“It’s clear — in Jogindernagar, admin decisions change overnight,” Bhardwaj fumed.

Protest Targets Corrupt Officer Too

Bhardwaj also tore into an Executive Engineer accused of manhandling elected reps and Dalit families trying to submit a memo.

“This is the same officer who’s faced corruption charges in Salooni and Dharampur.

Locals say he neither listens nor behaves,” he alleged. Demands include judicial probe into his assets and immediate suspension.

Broken Roads, Empty Hospitals, Dry Taps

Jogindernagar’s condition is grim — roads crumbling, 15 of 19 doctor posts lying vacant, staff crunch, and drinking water crisis in many villages. “No one’s bothered about real issues,” Bhardwaj said.

The June 25 protest, led by Kisan Sabha, panchayats, women and youth groups, will start at 10:30 AM from Ramlila Ground and march to the SDM office with a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

“Time to rise against arrogant babus, corruption, and broken promises,” Bhardwaj appealed.
