He said this move is part of the government's efforts to promote electric mobility and reduce carbon emissions.

Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) currently operates a fleet of 90 electric buses, with some already serving in Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur, and Shimla.

The operational cost of these e-buses is significantly lower than that of diesel buses.

The government plans to replace the entire fleet of 1,500 HRTC buses with e-buses gradually and is also setting up the necessary infrastructure, said Agnihotri.

CM said these e-buses will also be used for tourism purposes.

The aim of the state government is to make Himachal Pradesh a 'Green Energy State' by March 2026. Both Chief Minister Sukhu and Agnihotri travelled in  the new e-bus from Chaura Maidan to H.P. Secretariat to attend a Cabinet meeting.
