DHARAMSHALA: Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), Dharamshala, on Saturday declared the provisional Top-10 merit list of the Matriculation Examination March-2026, with girls once again stealing the spotlight by dominating the merit rankings.

Kangra district’s Anmol of A V M Sr Sec School, Pahra emerged as the state topper by securing 699 marks out of 700, translating into a  99.86 percent score. 

The second rank was jointly secured by Roohani Dhiman of Govt Sr Sec School, Rapoh Missran, Purnima Sharma of Govt Girls Sr Sec School, Bilaspur and Abhinav Mehta, also from Rapoh Missran school in Una. All three scored 698 marks and 99.71 percent. 

The third position was shared by Alisha Thakur of Oxford School, Kotli and Ashwika Sharma of Neelam Public Sr Sec School, Bihru with 697 marks each.  

Kangra, Hamirpur and Mandi districts dominated the merit chart with a large number of students figuring in the Top-10 list. Private schools continued to perform strongly, though government schools too made an impressive mark in the rankings.  

Among the notable achievers were Sakshi Kumari of Govt Girls Sr Sec School, Rohru, Deepika of Govt Sr Sec School, Tatta Pani, Harshita of Him Sarvodaya Sr Sec School, Ghumarwin and Diksha of Sarswati Vidya Mandir, Hatgarh, all securing 695 marks and 99.29 percent. 

 

Students from remote hill regions too shone brightly in the examination. Aditi Raj Negi of PM Shri Govt Model Sr Sec School, Suni, belonging to Kinnaur district, secured a place in the Top-10 with 690 marks and 98.57 percent. 

The merit list reflected a clear trend of girls outperforming boys across districts, with female students occupying a majority of the top positions. 

HPBOSE stated that the merit list is provisional and updated as on May 10, 2026.
