Shimla: A social media reel has triggered a storm in Himachal Pradesh after alleged derogatory remarks targeting Indian Army soldiers went viral, drawing sharp reactions from political leaders, ex-servicemen, and civil society groups.

Yadopati Thakur, State Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, has filed a formal complaint with the Superintendent of Police in Sirmaur, demanding an FIR against a Facebook user identified as Ishita Pundir.

The complaint alleges that the woman uploaded a reel making “abusive and defamatory” remarks about soldiers, including a claim questioning their loyalty to their wives.

Calling the content a “deliberate attempt to malign the character of those guarding the nation,” Thakur has urged police to take strict legal action under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000. He has also demanded that the accused’s social media accounts be blocked to prevent further spread of what he termed “hate-driven content.”

The controversy has snowballed beyond politics, with ex-servicemen and local groups expressing anger over what they see as an insult to the dignity of the armed forces.

Voices from civil society have echoed calls for immediate arrest, arguing that such content—often created for quick online traction—crosses the line into character assassination and social harm.

The incident also brings into focus a growing trend where some self-styled influencers chase virality through provocative or offensive content. Authorities are now under pressure to act swiftly, as the reel continues to circulate widely, intensifying public sentiment.

In a similar case, Uttarakhand Police arrested a social media woman influncer for spreading hatred on social media and now she is jail. Similar action should be taken against Sirmaur Woman as they are taking law of land for a rider misusing AI.

These artifical content creators should be death with strictly under the IT Act and other cyberlaws, demand citizens.

Police in Sirmaur have yet to issue an official statement on the complaint or confirm whether an FIR has been registered.
