The walkout occurred during the question hour of the ongoing session, as BJP legislators sought to address the contentious issue of the Alikhad scheme in the Arki constituency, which shares a border with Bilaspur.

Under Rule  the BJP legislators demanded a debate on the matter, emphasizing its significance for the constituency.

However, their plea was swiftly denied by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, triggering dissatisfaction among the BJP ranks.

Speaker Pathania's refusal to allow discussion on the Alikhad scheme prompted BJP legislators, led by Nainadevi MLA Randhir Sharma, to raise slogans in protest within the Vidhan Sabha.

Despite their efforts, the Speaker remained firm on his decision, leading to the BJP's walkout from the session.

Randhir Sharma, expressing the BJP's frustration, highlighted the urgency of addressing the Alikhad dispute, citing alleged police interference and violence against protesters seeking resolution through dialogue with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).

However,  the Speaker allowed the debate for Friday but BJP MLAs staged walkout.
