BJP National Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia announced the start of an anti-government campaign, aiming to expose what he called the administration’s “trail of broken promises and misgovernance.”
“The Sukhu government is running on empty slogans and empty coffers,” Bhatia said during a press briefing. He highlighted issues such as delayed salaries for public servants and alleged misuse of funds, questioning the government’s priorities amid rising public discontent.
Unfulfilled Promises Under Fire
Bhatia criticized the Congress for failing to deliver on key election promises, including the creation of 2 lakh government jobs and a ₹1,500 monthly allowance for women. “They promised empowerment but delivered exclusions with stringent eligibility criteria,” he said.
The BJP also lambasted the government for scrapping welfare initiatives like Himcare and Mukhyamantri Swavlamban Yojana, which Bhatia described as lifelines for healthcare and self-reliance. “Instead of building on existing schemes, they dismantled them without offering meaningful alternatives,” he remarked.
Rising Public Anger Over Policy Reversals
The Sukhu administration’s decision to roll back BJP-era schemes, such as the provision of 125 free electricity units, was another flashpoint.
“They promised 300 units of free electricity but couldn’t even sustain 125 units,” Bhatia said, adding that skyrocketing stamp duty hikes, rural water tariffs, and diesel prices have further burdened the public.
The BJP spokesperson alleged that while public welfare schemes falter, Sukhu has prioritized perks for political allies. “Himachal Pradesh is witnessing a government that cares more about its inner circle than its people,” he said.
Campaign for Accountability
Bhatia announced that BJP state leaders, including Dr. Rajeev Bindal, will spearhead a week-long campaign across Himachal Pradesh to highlight the government’s failures.
The BJP intends to underscore the contrast between Congress’s unfulfilled promises and what they described as the Modi government’s efficient delivery on commitments, citing achievements like AIIMS Bilaspur, Vande Bharat trains, and the Jal Jeevan Mission.
“People are tired of excuses,” Bhatia said. “We demand transparency and accountability. This government needs to answer why promises remain unfulfilled while corruption thrives.”
Fiscal Irresponsibility Alleged
Amid mounting financial woes, the BJP accused the Sukhu government of mismanaging disaster relief funds and failing to ensure fiscal prudence despite receiving ₹1,800 crore in central assistance.
“Public servants are unpaid, yet the state claims bankruptcy after squandering resources,” Bhatia said, calling the administration a “guarantee of corruption.”
The BJP’s campaign will focus on grassroots engagement, aiming to mobilize public opinion against the Sukhu government.
“This isn’t just political criticism—it’s a movement to restore Himachal’s dignity,” Bhatia asserted, urging citizens to hold the Congress accountable for its perceived failures.
