A recent Twitter poll conducted by DFC president Anoop Nautiyal on October 22, 2023, revealed that 52 percent of the 175 respondents were against the proposed odd-even traffic system, while 48 percent supported it.

However, beyond this debate, citizens expressed significant concerns about the state of public facilities and infrastructure in the capital city of Uttarakhand. The poll results shed light on various issues.

Many criticized the inadequate public transport system and highlighted ongoing problems, such as traffic violations, encroachments, illegal parking, and constant roadside construction said  Anoop Nautiyal, president of SDFC, A Dehradun based Civil society group in the city.

Additionally, the lack of a sufficient presence of traffic police officers was a recurring concern.

While residents were vocal about these problems, they also offered constructive ideas for improvement. The approach of Ajai Singh, SSP Dehradun, in seeking public feedback was commended.

It is suggested that the SSP's office compile a report based on this feedback and urge the Uttarakhand government to consider and implement some of the genuine suggestions promptly.
