Addressing the media at the Press Club Shimla today, Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti leaders A.P. Singh and Verma criticized the authorities for dragging their feet.
"This is a clear case of administrative bias. Immediate action is needed to uphold the High Court’s orders and restore faith in the legal system," Singh said.
The Controversy
The Masjid Committee is accused of illegally constructing five floors on government land. While demolition orders were initially issued for three floors, enforcement has been sluggish despite repeated judicial interventions.
Verma accused the authorities of favoritism. "Minor infractions face swift action, but big violations like this are ignored," he said.
Conflicting Claims
The Waqf Board initially agreed to dismantle the illegal structures but later claimed ownership of the land, contradicting government records that identify it as state property.
The court has ordered strict compliance, warning against further delays. It emphasized transparency and accountability, directing the district administration to act decisively.
Residents have accused the administration of selective enforcement and demanded unbiased action. "This case is a test of the rule of law," Singh said, as public protests gain momentum.
