Shimla: Dr. Brij Sharma, the well-regarded head of gastroenterology at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla has been appointed as the principal of the Atal Institute of Medical Superspeciality in Chamiyana, Shimla.
Dr. Sharma brings a wealth of experience and a good reputation to his new role.
After completing his specialty training at AIIMS New Delhi, he has been recognized for his extensive work in gastroenterology at IGMC Shimla, where he started a number of new procedures for treatment of patients for which they earlier had to go to PGI.
Dr Sharma comes from Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district.
He’s known for his in-depth study on hepatitis in the remote Spiti region, particularly among the tribal communities.
His appointment marks a significant step for the Atal Institute, which is set to benefit from his expertise and commitment to medical excellence.
The newly set up Institute has yet to see a full scale functioning for the patients seeking medical specialty services in Shimla.
