Standing Order Sets the Stage for Action

On October 11, 2023, the Himachal Pradesh Police established a Standing Order outlining procedures under the PIT ND&PS Act. This step comes as a response to the serious threats posed by illicit drug trafficking to public health and the national economy.

Detention Proposal for Repeat Offender

Following the Standing Order, on November 15, 2023, a proposal was submitted to the Detention Authority seeking to detain  Puneet Mahajan, a habitual drug trafficker from Village Basa, Kangra.

Despite multiple arrests, Mahajan persisted in illicit drug activities.

After thorough examination of records, on January 4, 2023, the Detention Authority issued an order against Puneet Mahajan under Section 3(1) of the PIT ND&PS Act.

This action aligns with the commitment and guidance of Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to curb illicit drug activities. The state police express gratitude to the Chief Minister for his leadership.

Director General of Police, Shri Sanjay Kundu, who joined back after court order thanked the Chief Minister and congratulated SP Nurpur and the team for this achievement.

The police reiterated their commitment to enforcing the ND&PS Act and announced three more cases heading to the Detention Authority. The relentless pursuit against drug-related offenses continues to be a top priority.
