Sood is the second IPS officer from Himachal Pradesh who became CBI director.
Currently Sood is the DGP Karnataka. He hails from Paragpur in Kangra District.
Earlier late Ashwini Kumar, former DGP, HP also had served as the director CBI in the recent past.
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has congratulated Mr Sood for heading CBI. Sood will replace Mr Jaiswal as Director CBI.
