 The agreement aims to co-process plastic waste in the company’s cement kilns, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly waste disposal methods.

Under the partnership, Ambuja Cements will handle non-recyclable plastic waste from 29 operational Plastic Waste Management Units across the state, including districts like Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, and Solan.

This waste will be used as an alternative fuel in the cement manufacturing process, reducing environmental pollution and minimizing landfill use.

 Highlights of the Initiative:

Coverage: Non-recyclable plastic waste from 29 units will be processed.

Districts Benefited: Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, and Solan.

Technology: Advanced co-processing in cement kilns, replacing conventional fossil fuels.

The Director of RDD called the collaboration a "milestone" in ensuring a cleaner and greener Himachal Pradesh.

"This initiative not only addresses waste management but also promotes a sustainable environment by utilizing cutting-edge technology," he added.

Ambuja Cements welcomed the partnership, emphasizing their commitment to sustainable development.

“This initiative reflects our dedication to ecological balance and aligns with the state’s waste management goals,” the company said in a statement.

Himachal Pradesh has been striving to manage its waste effectively. With this collaboration, the state sets an example for innovative public-private partnerships in environmental conservation.
