Shimla, October 27 - Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the government’s new ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ initiative in Dodra Kwar, which once used be called ‘Kala Pani’ of Shimla district due to its remote, challenging terrain.

This area, nestled beyond the Chanshal Pass, saw Sukhu’s historic overnight stay, making him the first CM to spend the night in this region since the state’s formation.

Sukhu not only brought a government scheme to the doors of one of the most isolated communities but also immersed himself in the local culture.

Staying at the residence of retired teacher Hardayal Khepan, he engaged with the community over a bonfire, learning about their customs and traditions.

For dinner, local women prepared a spread of ethnic delicacies, including Koda and Fafra breads, Chiyaun mushrooms, and a variety of local specialties, showcasing the unique flavors of Dodra Kwar.

Sukhu’s interaction with the villagers, especially sharing a meal with them, highlighted his intent to bridge the gap between the government and remote communities.

The 'Sarkar Aapke Dwar' program, launched from the heart of ‘Kala Pani,’ is aimed at providing direct government support to remote areas and addressing the needs of government employees stationed in such far-off locations.

The Chief Minister’s visit and initiative brought a renewed sense of belonging and connection to this isolated community, offering hope for improved accessibility and attention to their unique challenges.

Pallavi Khepan, Hardayal’s daughter and a teacher, expressed her excitement, stating, “Having the Chief Minister stay in our home is a proud moment for our family. It’s a memory we’ll cherish for life.”

Villagers like Jaipradha, Hemlata, and Pratibha who prepared the meal shared how honored they felt to serve him, and women from the local Mahila Mandal joined him for breakfast the next morning, expressing pride in the Chief Minister's visit and attention to the needs of remote areas to redress their grievances.
