SHIMLA:  In a decisive move to combat the rising issue of noise pollution in Himachal Pradesh, DGP Dr. Atul Verma has announced a strict crackdown on the use of pressure horns and unauthorized honking devices.

This initiative aims to restore peace and tranquility in the state’s picturesque hill stations, where sound amplification due to the terrain has exacerbated the problem.

Dr. Verma emphasized the severe impact of noise pollution on public health and well-being.

"The use of pressure horns and similar devices not only disrupts the peace but also poses significant health risks to residents and visitors," he stated.

To address this, he has mandated all Himachal Pradesh Police Department personnel to enforce rigorous checks and impose penalties on violators.

The enforcement drive will see increased vigilance across the state, with regular inspections to ensure compliance with noise regulations. Drivers caught using unauthorized honking devices will face strict legal consequences.

The DGP urged the public to support these measures by adhering to noise regulations, thereby contributing to a serene environment for everyone.

"Our objective is to ensure a quiet and pleasant atmosphere for both locals and tourists," Dr. Verma added.
