Hp police road safety alerts

SHIMLA: In a bid to curb rising road accidents, the Himachal Pradesh Police, under the leadership of DGP Dr. Atul Verma, IPS, has initiated a digital campaign aimed at promoting road safety.

The first of many digital display boards was unveiled near Govt. College, Kangra, sending a strong message to motorists across the state: drive responsibly.

The grim statistics speak volumes—1,305 accidents, 485 fatalities, and 2,200 injuries—highlighting the urgent need for safer roads.

In their push for change, the police have cracked down on drunk driving, issuing 1,379 challans and canceling or suspending 380 licenses.

Speeding remains a major concern, with police urging drivers to adhere to speed limits and avoid reckless driving, a significant contributor to road mishaps.

Through these new boards, the campaign aims to foster a culture of safe and responsible driving.

For this  Himachal Pradesh Police has  installed speed display boards and energy-efficient LED signs at accident-prone zones.

According to ASP Narvir Singh Rathour, these digital solutions will alert motorists to their speed and reinforce adherence to speed limits, addressing over-speeding—a major cause of road accidents.

The LED boards, designed for high visibility even in low-light conditions, are part of the police's effort to boost road discipline and traffic management, ultimately creating safer roads for both drivers and pedestrians.

The initiative seeks to remind drivers that safety is a shared responsibility and calls on all motorists to make Himachal's roads safer for everyone.
