The prestigious event was graced by Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, as the Chief Guest.
Distinguished guests, including Prof. R. P. Singh from the Physical Research Laboratory in Ahmedabad, Dr. Balvinder Singh from Samsung R&D Institute India, Bangalore, Mr. Anand Vora from Persistent Systems, Pune, and Prof. Anirban Bandyopadhyay from the National Institute for Materials Science in Tsukuba, Japan, were also present.
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Mandi, presided over the Convocation.
Addressing the graduates, Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty congratulated them on their hard work, dedication, and sacrifices, emphasizing that this day marks a significant milestone in their lives and careers.
He urged the young graduates to use their acquired skill sets, including technical proficiency and critical thinking, to address real-world challenges by collaborating across disciplines.
This year's convocation saw a rise in the number of female graduates, with a total of 52 female students completing undergraduate programs, 66 in postgraduate and master's programs, and 14 in the Ph.D. program.
Degrees awarded at the convocation included 60 Ph.D.s, 10 M.S. (by Research), 15 M.A.s, 112 M.Tech. degrees, 124 M.Sc. degrees, and 244 B.Tech. degrees across various engineering and science disciplines.
Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, the Director of IIT Mandi, expressed his pride in the graduating students and urged them to uphold the institution's legacy.
He shared his vision for the future of the institute, emphasizing a focus on impactful research and an increase in faculty and student strength.
The convocation also featured inspiring speeches from industry leaders, including Dr. Balvinder Singh of Samsung Electronics, Prof. R. P. In his valedictorian address, Mr. Pritish Chugh, the Director's Gold Medal winner, reflected on the journey of the graduates and encouraged them to carry the lessons, knowledge, and friendships gained during their time at IIT Mandi into their future endeavors.
