Shimla - Amid the bustling Shimla Summer Festival, the Himachal Congress government has unveiled a captivating photo exhibition celebrating the legacy of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The exhibition, titled **“Indira’s Himachal-Towards New Frontiers”**, aims to draw both locals and tourists to the Padam Complex on the historic Ridge.

Inaugurated by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the exhibition pays tribute to Indira Gandhi’s pivotal role in the nation’s development and her profound connection to Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted her visionary contributions, including her efforts to make Himachal Pradesh the 18th state of India on January 25, 1971.

"We are reminded of Indira Gandhi’s deep love for Himachal, from her wish to retire in Mashobra to her ashes being scattered over the Himalayas," said Sukhu.

The exhibition, featuring rare photographs from the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust archives, New Delhi, offers a rich visual journey through her life and tenure as India’s first woman Prime Minister.

Visitors can explore her courageous political career, her leadership from 1966 to 1984, and her lasting impact on the state.

The exhibition also highlights her initiatives in enhancing Himachal’s power capacity, agriculture, education, and healthcare, which significantly boosted the state’s socio-economic development.

Set against the backdrop of Shimla’s vibrant summer festivities, this exhibition invites everyone to reflect on Indira Gandhi’s legacy while enjoying the cultural events of the season.

Chief Minister Sukhu lauded Eka Archiving Services for their meticulous curation of the exhibition, which solidifies Indira Gandhi’s enduring legacy as the "Daughter of the Himalayas."

As Shimla comes alive with its annual festival, this exhibition stands as a testament to Indira Gandhi’s timeless connection with Himachal Pradesh, drawing locals and tourists alike to celebrate her legacy amidst the summer rush.
