Thakur, a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Himachal Pradesh, made these claims during a press conference in Shimla.

According to Thakur, there is mounting pressure on legislators from the ruling Congress party, including from central leaders and the Chief Minister, to ensure that only Congress candidates vote in the Rajya Sabha elections.

He stated that the Congress government is deploying undue pressure tactics on lawmakers, threatening them with repercussions if they do not comply.

Moreover, Thakur raised concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, citing instances such as the recent murder of a youth in Mall Road. He criticized the authorities for failing to apprehend the culprit, who remains at large despite CCTV footage being available.

Thakur also condemned the alleged phone tapping of legislators by the state police, labeling it as a blatant violation of democratic principles.

He urged for immediate action to uphold the sanctity of the electoral process and ensure fair and transparent elections.

The BJP leader's accusations have sparked a political firestorm in Himachal Pradesh, with opposition parties demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.
