Police Rescue Tourists from IcyKoksar

KEYLONG: In the freezing cold of Lahaul-Spiti, two tourists had a close brush with death. Their vehicle got stuck near the notorious Ropsang Nala on the night of January 16, 2025. The temperature had plummeted to an unforgiving -10°C.

Around midnight, Police Chowki Koksar received an urgent call for help. The tourists were stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by darkness and biting cold.

Without wasting a second, a police team geared up and headed for the spot. The journey was treacherous, but they pushed through the icy terrain.

When they reached, the scene was grim. The vehicle was trapped, and the tourists were shivering from the cold. The team worked quickly, battling the freezing wind and snow.

After a tense operation, they managed to free the vehicle. The tourists, shaken but alive, were finally safe.

For the stranded pair, the rescue felt like a miracle. For the police, it was just another day of serving their people in the toughest conditions.

Meanwhile the Keylong -Darcha and Keylong- Atal Tunnel north highway was restored for light traffic. But the Manali- Atal Tunnel remained closed due to snowfall.

All other roads from Tandi- Udaipur,  Koksar- Chatru and Rohtang Pass were closed.
