Shimla – The Election Commission of India has appointed Nandita Gupta, an IAS officer from the 2001 batch, as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Himachal Pradesh. She replaces Maneesh Garg, who has been relieved from his position to join the Commission at the earliest.

Nandita Gupta’s appointment follows the approval of her name from a panel of three IAS officers proposed by the Himachal Pradesh government. The Commission has directed that Gupta should immediately take over the responsibilities as CEO, Himachal Pradesh.

In her new role, Gupta will also be designated as Secretary to the Government in charge of the Election Department in the State Secretariat, with the mandate to focus solely on her duties as the Chief Electoral Officer, without holding any additional charges in the state government.
