Shimla, May 30: A Nepali national was allegedly stabbed to death following a heated altercation at Kuhal village under Chopal police station in Shimla district during the early hours of Saturday. Police have arrested the accused from the spot and launched an investigation into the murder.
According to police information, the incident took place at around 2:00 a.m. in a room where the victim and the accused were reportedly residing together.
The complaint was lodged by Bhaghat Ram, a resident of Kuhal village under Dhabas post office in Chopal tehsil. He stated that he was informed by Mast Ram that his brother, Deepak Darji, had allegedly killed Sameer Chaudhary following an argument.
Acting on the information, Bhaghat Ram rushed to the room and found Deepak standing at the door. The accused reportedly told him that during a quarrel, Sameer had suffered a knife injury to the head. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the complainant prevented Deepak from leaving the room and kept him there until police arrived.
A police team reached the spot and found Sameer Chaudhary, son of Mangat Ram and a resident of Lamki Chuha in Nepal's Kailali district, lying dead on a bed. He had visible head injuries and was bleeding profusely.
Preliminary investigations suggest that both the deceased and the accused are Nepali nationals who were living together in the same accommodation.
Police have taken the accused into custody and registered a case of murder. A team from the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) was called to the scene to collect scientific and forensic evidence.
The investigation is being carried out by the Station House Officer of Chopal police station. Authorities are probing the exact circumstances that led to the fatal altercation.
