Pratibha Singh, Congress President Himachal Pradesh

Citing the subdued morale among party workers as the primary reason, Singh's decision has exposec the internal squabbles  of the Congress party in the state.

Pratibha Singh in a statement to the media, revealed that after extensively touring various constituencies within the state, she observed a prevailing sense of neglect among party workers.

She implied that the lack of enthusiasm among the party's main support base could be attributed to the current government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, which has been in power for the past 14 months.

This revelation from the state Congress President underscores the existing tensions within the Congress party, further exacerbated by recent events.

The disqualification of six Congress MLAs, whose fate remains uncertain pending Supreme Court proceedings, following the defeat of Congress nominee Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha elections on February 27, has added to the party's woes.

The ensuing drama surrounding these events has weakened the Congress party's grassroots presence, providing a significant morale boost to its political rival, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The BJP, seizing the opportunity, has already declared candidates for the Hamirpur and Shimla constituencies, while the Congress finds itself scrambling to identify suitable contenders.

Pratibha Singh's decision to withdraw from the Lok Sabha race marks yet another setback for the Congress party, adding to the turmoil within its ranks in the midst of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
